Today just before noon we responded to a reported fire at OI on old 52. With the help of our assisting departments the situation was brought under control. Welcome Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the position of: Part Time Firefighter/Apparatus Operator.
STARTING SALARY: $11.25hr
Duties include protecting life and property by responding to both emergencies and non-emergency situations; securing the scene; fire extinguishment; salvaging structures and their contents; and providing emergency medical care as an Emergency Medical Technician. Responds as the primary apparatus operator to reports of emergencies which includes fires, emergency medical requests, technical rescue incidents, hazardous materials response and other types of situations that may present hazards or harm to people or property. Other duties include maintaining apparatus and equipment for a state of readiness for immediate response, records and data management with computer skills for data entry, responsible for maintaining building and grounds, conducting pre-plan fire inspections, acting in the absence of the Company Officer and presenting Fire Education to the public at various events. Must receive a minimum of 36 hours of training in-house at Welcome Fire Department, maintaining any granted certifications, and attending any required employee meetings or trainings, and/or any other duties assigned.
Hours:
Multiple shift opportunities including weekend and holidays.
Monday-Friday 7a-5p, 9a-5p, 5p-10p, and 10p-7a.
Saturday-Sunday 7a-7p and 7p-7a
MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS
• 21 Years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• NC Certified Level II Firefighter.
• NC Certified Emergency Medical Technician or higher.
• NC Certified Hazmat Ops
• NC Certified Emergency Vehicle Driver.
• NC Class B License and good driving record.
• Ability to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Preferred Certification
NC Certified Driver/Operator Pumps
NC Certified Technical Rescuer (Vehicle or Ropes Specialty preferred)
